Cheney's office for Cellular Plus will be on the move sometime in the next few months.

Land is currently being cleared and prepared for the construction of a new building on the north end of Cheney along First Street adjacent to the Maverik store. The business will move from its current location at 1315 First St., a building it formerly shared with Chet's Flowers.

The company projects a winter opening, but according to the company's marketing director, Merisa Saunders, there is no specific date at present. "As you know, that's not always predictable, especially in the winter when you start this time of year."

"I don't know if we believe The Farmer's Almanac or not," Saunders added, noting that publication's prediction of a return to winter for our region.

Cellular Plus came to Cheney in November 2013. The company is known as a premium retailer, and as such they provide all the services Verizon Wireless offers.

"You can get your phone from us, you can upgrade, activate, buy tablets, pay your bill, all of that from us," Saunders said.

The company is based in Billings, Mont. and serves territory in its home state, as well as Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Colorado and Wyoming. Besides Cheney there is a Cellular Plus location in Spokane. The company has 58 locations.

"We will have a great selection of everything from cases to chargers, cables and tablets, mobile WiFi units, all of those things," Saunders said. The company also sells old-fashioned cell phones that just allow one to make a call.

One thing the company also offers are classes in a variety of areas. One notable offering on their website is entitled the Phone and Device Academy. This no-cost class promises to allow you to "Get your Ph.D in PDA's - personal digital assistant - and master the apps that are part of smart phones.

"Cheney has been very good to us," Saunders said, allowing the company to invest in the new building.
