Firefighters from Airway Heights, Medical Lake, Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane and Spokane County Fire District 10 responded to a structure fire around 4 p.m., Aug. 5., near Lawson Street and 19th Avenue in Airway Heights.
According to Fire Chief Mitch Metzger, the renters were out of the house when the fire started. Fire crews were on the scene for approximately 4 hours and 15 minutes.
All sides of the home suffered damage, as did the back porch. No civilians and firefighters were injured, however a dog perished in the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
