MPA program reaches milestone

Eastern Washington University’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) program has been accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs and Administration (NASPAA) for 2015-22, reflecting EWU’s commitment to quality public service education.

In place since 1974, this is the first time Eastern’s MPA program has been accredited. This makes it part of a global community of over 190 graduate programs in public service that have their quality validated by NASPAA.

“Obtaining NASPAA accreditation marks a milestone for our program which is critical to our faculty, students and alumni,” Ning Li, EWU’s MPA director, said.. “The MPA faculty will strive to ensure that we maintain our accreditation and continue to bring improvements and innovations to the program.”

Eastern’s MPA program is designed to provide widely varied educational opportunities in the fields of public and not-for-profit management. More than 50 percent of recent graduates have gone on to work at some level of government.

NASPAA accreditation ensures that EWU’s MPA program will be more visible among its peers, opening doors for partnerships, exchanges of best practices and student transfers. The accreditation also supports program improvement and student learning outcomes by requiring programs like Eastern’s to demonstrate contributions to advancing the knowledge, research and practice of public service.
