Betty Spear

Betty passed away peacefully on June 24, 2015 in Spokane, Wash. Betty was born on April 22, 1927 to Elsie and William Springer in Otis Orchards, Wash. She was the youngest of seven siblings: Bev, Phyllis, Jay, Jean, Velma and Bill, all of which have preceded her in death.

She was married to Delbert Spear in June of 1946 (divorced 1980). After marrying, the couple made their home in Four Lakes, Wash., where they had five children together: Linda (deceased), Janet Spear (Pettey), Steve Spear, Del Spear and Tim Spear. Betty was a stay at home mother to her children until her youngest child attended school at which time Betty began working for the Cheney School District. After 21 years of working for the school district Betty officially retired in 1987 and then moved to Spokane.

Betty's greatest love was her family. Her favorite time of the year was the holidays, as she loved gathering with friends and family. She was an amazing cook and well known for her delicious homemade chicken noodles. She enjoyed gardening, caring for her yard and beautiful flowers. Betty loved dancing, bowling, and playing cards with friends and family. She attended church and enjoyed being involved in church functions.

Betty is loved by all of her family and will be missed very much. She is "Home" now. Betty is survived by four of her children: Janet (Chuck), Steve (Lorna), Del (Nan) and Tim (Cheryl). Ten grandchildren: Jared (Melissa), Tonia (Lane), Danielle (Brian), Will (Katelyn), Aly, Jacob, Colin (Becky), Alex, Time and Jackson. Six great-grandchildren: Kole, Ellie, Mason, Madison, Norah and Rose.

A memorial service will be held at Fowler United Methodist Church, 3928 N. Howard St., Spokane, on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015 at 1 p.m. A private burial was held at Marshall Cemetery on June 30, 2015 with close friends and family.
