If the Spokane Blue Devils AAA American Legion baseball team want some type of idea of how much things have improved since last year, for now at least, they will look at their Saturday, June 13 outing in Yakima.
The Blue Devils earned a split in a nonleague doubleheader with Yakima Pepsi Pak, the defending AAA state champions, winning 5-4 and losing 7-2.
And not only did the Blue Devils topple one of the state’s premiere Legion programs, but they did so very much shorthanded. When head coach Steve Hare did his scheduling he figured all high school graduations were a week earlier.
