Six Medical Lake tennis players earn 1A regional berths

Six members of Medical Lake’s tennis team, three boys and three girls, have qualified for regional competition Friday, May 22 and Saturday, May 23 at Mead High School.

Noah Ray, an All-Northeast A League player in boy’s singles, will meet an as yet undetermined opponent from Lind/Ritzville/Sprague in his opener. Isiah Farmen and Austin Brown, the NEA’s doubles MVPs, take on a team from St. George’s.

In girls’ play All-NEA singles player, Alyssa Fitzgerald, faces a St. George’s opponent. Cassidy Hagel and Annette Carlson, also an All-NEA selection at doubles, meet Reardan in their first match.

Play features schools from 1A, 2B and 1B competing against each other. The top four finishers earn berths in the state tournament, May 29-30 in Yakima.

In the NEA regular season the ML boys won the league title with a 7-1 record while the girls were 7-3 and in third place.
