Blackhawks shot down in bid for return to state tournament

The Cheney High boys’ soccer team saw their season come to an end last weekend in perhaps the cruelest way possible — a 1-0 road shootout loss against Quincy Saturday.

Despite being out shot 6-3, the Blackhawks played well, especially defensively where they managed to recover a couple times the Jacks got behind them and prevent clear looks at goal. Goalkeeper Kameron Galm made several good saves, head coach Mark Kiver said, while several Quincy shots either went wide or ricocheted off the crossbar or posts.
