Chryssee Pettit

Chryssee Pettit (middle), husband James Pettit (right) and daughter Allie (left) are expecting an addition to the family.

Where do you find all the happy, friendly people you see in Cheney? Try Chryssee Pettit. Chryssee tells me she grew up in Reardan and Pomeroy.

She said, "I always wanted to help people in the medical field. I wanted to help the patients to feel better and get the right care. In my junior and senior years of high school, I was in Running Start. After that, I went to both community colleges in Spokane and graduated. I did manicures and pedicures as a fallback on a medical career.

"As time permitted, my mother, whose name is Karla Marll, would assume the role of a patient, which gave me the chance to practice helping patients and taking care of them as required. I really enjoyed those times with my mother's help."

At the age of 18, Chryssee began working with doctors in the specialty of obstetrics/gynecology, which is the delivery of babies. There were eight doctors in the clinic. Chryssee was excited about the work. She said, "I was able to see the babies every day. I love children!"

There is another aspect of Chryssee's life: Chryssee had a friend named James Pettit. She told me, "James and I were friends for 22 years before we were married." Ten of those 22 years were what they called milestones, which they said helped them to mature and grow into the people they are today.

James Pettit is a web developer and also builds websites. Chryssee currently works at VisionHaus Optometry. They have a 7-year-old daughter in first grade. Chryssee calls Allie a social butterfly. Allie is a cheerleader and uses her cheerleading skills with her schoolmates. Chryssee and James will soon have a little boy in their family. I can picture Allie showing little brother how to behave.

Chryssee has always enjoyed camping and hiking with her friends. She has strolled the paths of Turnbull Wildlife Refuge and Riverside State Park many times. Chryssee's best prize is their cabin in the Blue Mountains near Dayton, Wash.

"The cabin is a rustic paradise. We enjoy the peace and quiet." As a last comment Chryssee says, "Being of Norwegian heritage in our family, I am the second generation from Norway in the United States."

That's all for now. We wish you well, Chryssee and James, and your little family.
