Airway Heights was the happening place on the West Plains with solid growth reported community development director Tom Lein. With a population, not counting inmates from the correctional facility, of 2,490, the city was in the midst of a building boom with six housing developments.

Residents of Cheney were offered a presentation by the city’s police department on how to spot potential gang activity after being told by Lt. Rick Campbell that, “Yes, we have gang members in town.”
