Richard Lane Turbin

Richard Lane Turbin passed away surrounded by family, March 19, 2015, after a short illness.

He and his twin brother Dave were born Dec. 27, 1942 to Ray and Mary Turbin in Merrill, Wisc.

The family moved from Merrill, Wisc. to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in 1950 where he then attended school in the Coeur d'Alene School District.

He joined the Army National Guard in June of 1961 serving to September of 1972. He then joined the Washington Air National Guard in September 1974 and retired from the service in February 1986.

Concurrently he worked at Eastern Washington University from 1973 until his retirement in 1996. During his life he lived in various locations in North Idaho, Spokane, until permanently settling in Cheney.

He enjoyed using his CB radio, his handle being" Curly." He enjoyed karaoke and most days you would find him at Willow Springs Station restaurant in Cheney. But his greatest love was for his kids, Allan, Coastal and Corrine as well as his grandkids.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Mary Turbin, brothers Darrel Evans and Dave Turbin, son Allen Turbin and daughter Corrine Clark. He is survived by his sister Ellen Barbre, brother Bill Turbin, his daughter Coastal Alaska and grandchildren Jessica, Cassie, Dylan, Amber, Nathaniel, Vernon, Melissa, Billy, Brandon, Levi and Crystal as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services were held April 17 at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery.
