Emmanuel Lutheran Church

All are welcome to worship with us this Sunday, April 12. Come early for Christian education classes for grade school through adult. You may also watch our pastor’s sermons at our website http://www.emmanuelcheney.org or on YouTube at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Cheney.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

A welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit. Holy Communion at 11 a.m. The Rev. Christine Soule will preach and preside.

Attention college students: Each Monday at 5 p.m. you are invited to join us for dinner, study and devotions. Narcotics Anonymous meets Tuesday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the parish hall. Fellowship Breakfast is each Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. in the parish hall.

For your contemplation: From “The Attitude of Faith”: Unless we can presume that the Lord is speaking right now, how can we believe that he ever spoke? This is the premise on which we’re proceeding: that the Lord is acting and speaking in our lives right now. To have an attitude of faith is to hear the Lord speaking everywhere and all the time, in the concrete and ordinary circumstances of our lives. Then religion and life have become one, and we are never far from God. That’s why people of faith never grow old and never grow tired. They don’t need signs and wonders, apparitions and visions. God has quietly broken through and stands perfectly revealed in the now of things,” Richard Rohr, from The Great Themes of Scripture.

United Church of Christ

Whether your interest is secular or spiritual, Grant and Lelia Smith will enlighten you during their slide talk on their trip to Israel during their national elections. It’s at the church on Sunday, April 12, at 7 p.m.

Sunday features the worship service at 10 a.m. and the children’s classes during the service. Childcare is also available. Afterwards, coffee and cookies will be served in the fellowship hall, while the Council meets in the Fireside Room.

If you want to attend the men’s breakfast before church on April 12, ask Grant Smith or pastor David Krueger-Duncan for the place. On Thursday, April 9, you’re welcome to join the Lunch Bunch for noontime potluck lunch, and to practice singing with the choir at 7 p.m.

United Methodist Church

Please join us for study and worship this week at the United Methodist Church. Pastor Alissa Bertsch-Johnson will lead the worship service Sunday at 10 a.m. preceded by Sunday school classes at 9 a.m.

Sunday evening the adult fellowship will meet at the home of Sonia and Roger Bertsch. The potluck gathering will begin at 6 p.m.
