'Pure Grit' is Cheney book club's March selection

Local author chronicles real-life experiences of American nurses during WWII

“Pure Grit: How American World War II Nurses Survived Battle and Prison Camp in the Pacific” by Mary Cronk Farrell is the March selection of the Book Discussion Group of the Friends of the Cheney Community Library. The group meets Tuesday, March 24, at 7 p.m. at the library.

Farrell will join the group to talk about her book, which describes the experiences of nurses at Army and Navy hospitals in the Philippines and what happened to them after Dec. 7, 1941 when the Japanese invaded the islands.
