Spokane County's Target Zero to conduct DUI patrols

SPOKANE COUNTY – Law enforcement will be conducting DUI patrols in Spokane County during this upcoming St. Patrick’s Day weekend. The Target Zero troopers, deputies and officers will be looking for alcohol-and drug-impaired drivers in Spokane County all weekend.

According to a news release, The Target Zero Team has arrested a total of 1,630 impaired drivers in Spokane County since July 1, 2013. Because of this effort, Spokane County is seeing a decrease in impaired driving fatalities.

To help St. Patrick’s Day revelers make smart decisions, the Spokane County Target Zero Task Force is partnering with Uber, the app that connects riders and drivers, to offer free rides to new users and discounted rides to current users.

New Uber users hoping to take advantage of this Uber promotion simply have to download the Uber app (get.uber.com/go) and input the promo code SPOSAFE1. Then enjoy a safe Uber ride home free of charge up to $25.

Existing Uber users only have to input the promo code SPORIDE1 to get up to two rides at 20 percent off between 10 a.m., March 14 and 3 a.m., March 15.

“Whether you are gathering with friends at the local bar, or a private party, if alcohol or marijuana is part of the festivities, setting up a safe ride home before you start to party will save you a lot of headaches,” Karen Wigen, Spokane County Target Zero manager, said.
