Deadlines for submitting West Plains Briefs is noon Monday. Briefs should be under 100 words if possible. Briefs may be edited for length.

ML book club meeting

The Medical Lake Book Club welcomes local author Reade Brown to their March 9 meeting. The meeting starts with refreshments and a social at 12:30 p.m.

Brown will discuss his book “Fifty Years of Fur, Feathers, and Fins”, which is a wonderful and entertaining story of Mr. Brown’s experiences as a young biologist who spent 33 years working for the State of Washington’s Department of Game, starting in 1948.

Everyone is welcome. The club meets in the Medical Lake Library’s meeting room at 321 E. Herb St.

Feed Medical Lake meal

Feed Medical Lake will have its monthly dinner March 9, from 5-6 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The menu will feature meatloaf, salad, rolls, corn and cookies.

Fisher Building public hearing

The Cheney School District’s Board of Directors is holding a public hearing at their first regular meeting in March to receive public input regarding a possible sale of the district’s Fisher Administration Building. The meeting takes place March 11, beginning at 6:05 p.m. at Betz Elementary School, 317 N. Seventh St., Cheney.

Dollars for Scholars event

Medical Lake Dollars for Scholars is holding it’s annual “Spring Thing” scholarship fundraiser on Saturday, March 21 at St. Ann’s Parish Hall, 6:30-10:30 p.m.

There will be a live and silent auction with lots of prizes; food and adult beverages and music provided by the “No Rules” band. Fun and dancing for everyone.

Tickets are $30 per person and includes food and all beverages. This year’s theme is “Going Casual” so come out and support our seniors in their quest for higher education.
