Feed Medical Lake Jan. 12

Need a New Year’s resolution?

Attend Feed Medical Lake each month for a free meal and groceries. The next meal is Monday, Jan. 12, 5-6 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 223 S. Hallett St.

There will be oven-fried chicken, dinner rolls, tater tots, salad and pudding with fruit will be served. For more information contact Joanna Williams at 714-1150.

ML book club meets Jan. 12

The Medical Lake Book Club welcomes author Christel Decker Bresko to speak at their Jan. 12 meeting.

The meeting starts with refreshments and a social at 12:30 p.m. Bresko will lead a discussion about her book “Living in a Land Where No Apples Grow,” the true story of Christel and Bill Bresko’s adventures into the remote wilderness of Alaska to bring the Gospel to the Indians of that area.

Everyone is welcome. The club meets in the Medical Lake Library meeting room at 321 E. Herb St.

Feed Cheney Souper Bowl

Several Cheney churches will be participating in a fundraiser for Feed Cheney on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 1, with “Souper Bowl of Caring” urging Super Bowl fans to “be mindful of those who do not have a bowl of soup to eat.” Monetary donations will be collected in soup pots at the close of church services. 

All funds collected will help Feed Cheney with their $500/month expenses to supplement the donated food for the dinner and grocery distribution the last Monday of each month. 

Join Cheney VFW today

The Cheney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 11326 is always looking for new members. Membership requirements are be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. national, must have served in the U.S. armed forces and be currently serving or honorably discharged and must have served in a war, campaign or expedition on foreign soil or in hostile waters.

Above requirements must be verified by Department of Defense DD-214 papers. For more information contact Tom Strongin, Commander, VFW Post 11326 in Cheney.
