Mat Maulers wrestling registration is ahead

‘Tis the season to be wrestling. Yep it’s that time of year again as registration for Mat Maulers wrestling club is just around the corner.

Forms and flyers will be sent out to schools on Jan 5. First practice is Monday, Jan. 12 at 6 p.m. at Medical Lake High School wrestling gym. Please arrive 30 minutes early to get registered.

Registration is only $15 a wrestler, plus $20 refundable uniform deposit. For questions please contact Theresa Berquist at mmwc-jcmt@live.com.

Cardinals split wrestling week

Sam Griffey, Jackson Sanders, Hudson Petek, Keoni Paikuli and Ian O’Brien all scored wins from pins in Medical Lake’s 42-27 nonleague wrestling victory over Kettle Falls, Dec. 17. In a 48-27 Northeast A League loss to Chewelah, Dec. 18, Paikuli and O’Brien also won on pins while Chris Hurt-Moran scored an 8-3 decision.

Over Christmas break the Cardinals take part in the Tri-County Tournament at Central Valley, Dec. 23, the Rogers Tournament, Dec. 27 and Cheney Tournament Jan.3.

Adams, Rodgers, Kupp on AP All-American team

Eastern Washington University’s Vernon Adams Jr. has been selected as the top quarterback in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, as the record-breaking Eagle junior joined two other Eagles as first team All-America selections as chosen by the Associated Press.

Adams was joined on the first team by offensive tackle Jake Rodgers and wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
