Last updated 12/11/2014 at 6:51pm

The head-coaching debut of Medical Lake girls’ head coach Kyle Lundberg came with a thud in a 60-34 nonleague loss to the 2B North Northwest Christian Crusaders last Saturday, Dec. 6.

The Cardinals stayed with the Crusaders through the first quarter, trailing 24-15, but the offense went away in the second quarter and Medical Lake trailed 39-24 at the half.

Cassidy Hagel led Medical Lake in scoring with 11 points while Maleeka Wagner added 10 points and 13 rebounds for a double-double.

Courtney Gray had 16 points and 14 rebounds while Mackenzi Gray also scored 16 points, plus added 11 rebounds for bookend double-doubles for NWC (2-0) which had another solid outing in their season-opening contest, a 60-35 win over Chewelah.

Medical Lake played a nonleague game at Lind/Ritzville/Washtucna this past Tuesday. They open their Northeast A League season Friday, Dec. 12 at Freeman with a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.

The Cardinals’ Friday game versus another B school, Liberty, was moved to Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 5:45 p.m. due the cancellation of some classes because of weather Dec. 5.
