Cheney swimmers top Clarkston 85-64, qualify for state

The Cheney High girls swimming team traveled to Clarkston, Sept. 25, where they defeated the Bantams, 85-64.

The Blackhawks had several swimmers who did well in individual races.

Sophomore Makenzie Norman qualified for state for her fifth individual event after she finished first in the 500-yard freestyle in 5 minutes and 35.30 seconds. Senior Kaylie Geschke placed third in the event. Norman also took first in the 50 freestyle while senior Izzie Corlett finished third.

Sophomore Alexis Schmidt placed first in the 200 freestyle and Geschke finished third.
