Cardinal volleyball trying to put all the parts together

The parts seem to be there for Medical Lake volleyball. It seems to be a matter of just finding how they all fit together.

The Cardinals are winless after four Northeast A League matches, losing 3-0 each to Colville, Deer Park, Lakeside and Newport.

“We have good things going but are still working on pulling everything together so it all happens at once,” head coach Amanda Higgins wrote in an email.

In their 25-9, 25-18, 25-20 loss at home last Thursday to Newport (2-2 NEA, 2-3 overall), Cassidy Hagel had a team-high 13 assists and Calin Mandapat seven digs. Tuesday against Lakeside, Sage Marinello had a game-high 11 digs in the 25-10, 25-7, 25-13 loss.

“Our defense was pretty good, our blockers got a lot of touches,” Higgins said. “We just couldn’t find our offense. We need to put the ball on the floor and attack the volleyball.”

The Cardinals were at league-lading Freeman (4-0, 5-0) this past Tuesday and are back at home Thursday (tonight, Oct. 2) versus Riverside (2-2, 3-2) for a 6:30 first serve.

“The breast cancer awareness game is Thursday when we host Riverside,” Higgins said. “ I personally always enjoy playing Riverside and coaching against my old coach (Debbie Spray),” Higgins said.
