Blue Devils are bounced in playoffs
The Spokane Blue Devils made a quick exit in the Four by Four regional AAA American Legion playoffs last weekend in Chehalis, Wash. going 0-2.
The Blue Devils fell 14-4 in their opener to the Kennewick Bandits Saturday afternoon and were ousted in the double-elimination tournament Sunday with a 7-4 defeat at the hands of Baseball Without Borders.
Kennewick broke open a 7-4 contest by scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh and four more in the eighth which invoked the 10-run rule. Of the Cheney members of the Blue Devils, Tanner Smith had a hit in four plate appearances versus the Bandits while Kyle Barsness was 1 for 3 with a run scored.
In Sunday’s game the Blue Devils fell behind 7-0 after three innings and were never able to catch up. Smith was 1 for 4 and scored twice while Barsness had a hit in four at bats.
