Cheney Community Church

“Christmas in July” is the theme for Vacation Bible School which begins at Cheney Community Church Monday, July 7 and runs through July 11.

VBS meets 9 a.m. - noon each day. Pre-registration is open now by calling the church office, 235-4841, or by registering at the church the morning of July 7.

Children from age 3 to those who have completed fourth grade are welcome.

There will be Bible stories, music, arts and crafts, games and snacks. The week will culminate with participation in the Cheney Rodeo Parade. A float will feature the VBS kids and their Christmas theme which includes filling Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes to be sent around the world through the outreach of Samaritan’s Purse.

The community is invited to regular worship services at Cheney Community Church on Sundays at 10 a.m. A nursery is provided plus children’s church for ages 3 through elementary.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites the community to worship with us this week as we celebrate the fourth Sunday after Pentecost. Adult education begins at 9 a.m. Worship begins at 10:30 a.m. followed by fellowship at 11:30 a.m.

Mark your calendars and plan to worship with us on Sunday, July 20 at Sutton Park gazebo at 10:30 a.m. for our annual “Worship in the Park” service. Bring your family, friends, neighbors and a comfy chair and worship in God’s creation.

A “two-site” Vacation Bible School will be held Monday, July 21, through Friday, July 25. “Marvelous” will be the theme for this year’s program. The Lutherhaven staff will lead the children through a week of learning, games, crafts, and activities.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church will host children who will be entering grades 1 through 6 this fall from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Please plan to bring a daily sack lunch. St. Rose Catholic Church will host children 3 through 5 years of age from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on the same dates as above.

Registration forms are available at Emmanuel Lutheran Church located at 639 Elm St. on the window by the front doors. Please fill out one form per child you will be registering. United Church of Christ

A warm welcome is offered to visitors and guests here, and communion is open to all who wish to partake. Pastor David Krueger-Duncan will lead the communion service at 10 a.m. in the United Church of Christ located at 423 N. Sixth St. Childcare for infants and toddlers is available in the nursery from 9:45-11:15 a.m.

Please join friends new and old for the fellowship hour following the service. Another opportunity to make friends while enjoying good food will be during the potluck “Lunch Bunch” on Thursday, July 10.

Most importantly, please come to express your opinions and vote on the budget for 2014-2015 and the decision whether to adopt the new constitution incorporating the portfolio system which has been used this past year.

United Methodist Church

Please join us for worship this Sunday at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church as we welcome our new pastor, the Rev. Alissa Bertsch Johnson. Pastor Johnson comes to us from Simpson United Methodist Church in Pullman.

The service will include the celebration of holy communion. Following worship there will be an ice cream social during the fellowship time for folks to get further aquatinted with pastor Johnson and her husband Stephen.

Cheney UMC is located at 204 Fourth St. Office hours are 8:15-11:45 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. For more information about worship or study groups call 235-4600. You will always find a warm welcome at Cheney UMC.
