Cheney United Church of Christ

    Sunday, June 8, will mark the return of pastor Dave, who has been away for the last two Sundays. All members and interested friends are also reminded that there will be a brief congregational meeting this Sunday after the worship service. New proposed by-laws will be distributed so that all will have time to read them in preparation for the church’s annual meeting in July.

Cheney UCC warmly welcomes all congregants, friends and visitors to any Sunday’s worship service at 10 a.m.  Nursery care for infants and toddlers is provided from 9:45 - 11:15 a.m.  Sunday School classes are on vacation for the summer. Children older than preschool age are encouraged to stay in the service with their families.

The men of the church will gather at 7:45 a.m. June 8, at Willow Springs restaurant for the men’s breakfast. This event occurs on the second and fourth Sundays of every month. All men of the congregation are invited to attend.

All at Cheney UCC offer their congratulations and best wishes to Madelon Dahl and Logan Tiedt, who were honored last Sunday as they graduate from high school.  Madelon intends to pursue a career as a large animal veterinarian and Logan will be majoring in theater arts at Southern Oregon University.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

Join us for worship this Sunday, June 8 at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate the Day of Pentecost. Please remember to wear red. Christian education classes begin at 9 a.m. A reception will be held following the worship service to honor our high school and college graduates.

Emmanuel invites you to attend our Parking Lot Sale this Saturday June, 7 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. All proceeds will go to our building loan.

Mark your calendars and plan to worship with us on Sunday July 20 at Sutton Park’s gazebo at 10:30 a.m. for our Worship in the Park service. Bring your family, friends and comfy chair and worship in God’s creation.

Vacation Bible School is scheduled for Monday July 21, through Friday, July 25, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Emmanuel will host children entering grades 1 - 6 this fall. Please plan to bring a daily sack lunch. St. Rose Catholic church will host children 3 - 5 years of age from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. on the same dates as above. Please plan to join the fun! Registration forms will be available soon.

United Methodist Church

Please join us for worship at the United Methodist Church this week. Sunday morning worship is at 10 a.m. and will be led by the Rev. Terry Hall. High school and college graduates will be honored. Christian education classes are in recess during the summer months.

This is pastor Terry’s next to last Sunday with us in Cheney as he and his wife prepare to move to Bellingham. Sunday June 15, we will have a good-bye service and reception for them.

Worship Sunday evening is at 6 p.m. The service is conversational in style and open to everyone.

Cheney UMC is located at 204 Fourth St. Office hours are 8:15-11:45 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday. For more information about worship or study groups call 235-4600.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

All are welcome. We are a welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit.

The Day of Pentecost. Holy Communion at 11 a.m. Rev. Christine Soule will preach and preside.

Spring Clean-up Day will take place Saturday, June 14. All gather at 9 a.m., bring your garden tools and energy.

Monday evening dinner, study and devotions for college students ends for the summer and will resume in the fall.

Fellowship breakfast is each Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Join us for good food, fellowship and discussion. Come and bring a friend.

For your contemplation: A special prayer: God help us to listen to our loved ones, play with our loved ones, laugh with our loved ones, weep with our loved ones, forgive our loved ones, take responsibility for our loved ones, be faithful to our loved ones forever.
