Medical Lake school board agrees to contract negotiations with Ames
The Medical Lake School District may be a step closer to getting its next superintendent.
The MLSD board of directors has agreed to enter into contract negotiations with Tim Ames for the position of the school district’s superintendent.
Ames is the current superintendent of the Wellpinit School District in Wellpinit, Wash.
He was one of four finalists — selected by Educational Consultants LLC — who came to Medical Lake, April 28, to meet and engage in interviews with the school board, administration, staff, student leadership and faculty.
School board president Rod Von Lehe said all four candidates, including Ames, were “all qualified” for the position.
“We’re satisfied with the pool the consultants presented us with,” Von Lehe said.
In the evening, Ames met with members of the public and answered questions about several topics, including funding, communication and community involvement.
If Ames is hired to be the next MLSD superintendent, he would be replacing Dr. Pam Veltri, who be taking a position as an assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction with the Mead School District starting in July.
