Cardinal defense saves the day at Kettle Falls

Medical Lake’s defense came to the rescue in the end. But only after a lack of it helped dig the Cardinals into a hole in the first place last Wednesday in a Northeast A League baseball game at Kettle Falls.

The Cardinals (3-1 NEA, 4-1 overall) rallied from deficits or 3-0 and 5-1 to beat the Bulldogs 7-6, earning a split in their week’s games following a 4-2 loss at Freeman (2-0, 2-0), last Tuesday.

In the top of the eighth Cory Wagner walked to open the inning then stole second. Tristen Keith bunted Wagner over to third and scored on a passed ball for the winning run.
