Julia L. Eyre (age 90) passed away March 28, 2014 in Cheney. She was born Nov. 9, 1923 in Alberta, Canada to George and Carol (Duncombe) Myre. Julia attended school in Alberta and at age 13 went to work with her aunt at the Post Office to help support herself.
She married Sam Eyre in 1941 and lived wherever he could find work as a mechanic. In 1946 they moved to the West Plains area where she lived until her passing. She was a founding member of the Evangelical Free Church in Airway Heights, a founding member of the High Flyers square dance club and a member of the Garden Group.
Julia is survived by her children, John Eyre and his wife Karen of Reardan, Wash., and Beverly Hunley and her husband James of Seattle; sister, Marvel Siebert of Vulcan, Alberta; grandchildren Richard, Clarissa, Lia, Sara and Jayanna; great-grandchildren Ayden, Naydia, Maria, Liam and Julian. Her husband Samuel Eyre preceded her in death in 1996.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lilac Services for the Blind, 1212 N. Howard, Spokane, WA 99201. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, at Spokane Memorial Gardens Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Hayford Community Church. A potluck dinner will
follow in the fellowship hall.
