Days removed from guiding Eastern Washington University to its first-ever appearance in the NCAA tournament, Eagles' head coach Ray Giacoletti accepted the same job at the University of Utah, a position vacated by Rick Majerus, who resigned due to health reasons.
A selection committee chose Paul Simmons over of a pool of seven candidates to become Cheney's new parks and recreation director.
By a vote of 3-2, the Cheney City Council voted to rename Parkway Drive in honor of Dick Simpson whose company did engineering work for the city.
