Mat Maulers take home 30 medals from Chewelah

This past Saturday, the Medical Lake Mat Maulers got up before the rooster crowed, packed up their gear bags and headed north again for a tournament in Chewelah.

This was certainly a tournament of firsts, Mat Maulers spokesperson, Nicole Aguilera wrote in an email.

“For a few of the wrestlers it was their first tournament experience,” Aguilera said. “Many wrestlers won their first medal of the season and for some it was their first medal ever.”

Others got their first experience of a raised hand at the end of match won, and still more were able to pin their opponent for the first time. “It was a long but rewarding day, literally filled with blood, sweat, and tears,” Aguilera said.

The team brought home a total of 30 medals from Chewelah. Mat Mauler medal winners can be found in the West Plains Scoreboard.

The club gets to wrestle this Saturday, March 22 at Shadle Park High School in Spokane beginning at 10 a.m.
