Petersen, Reed represent Cardinals

Ricky Petersen and Nick Reed will represent Medical Lake in Tacoma this weekend at Classic XXVI, following their finishing in the top-four at regional wrestling competition last Saturday in Freeman.

Petersen finished as the runner-up at 145 pounds, losing in the finals. Reed was third in 113 pounds, falling in the semifinals. Seth Rojas (126) and Ian O’Brien (220) were sixth in their respective weight classes and will be alternates.

“We brought nine wrestlers to regionals/bi-districts and four of them placed,” head coach Sam Petersen said.

Others had a tough road to Tacoma.”Six of our wrestlers were number four seeds into regionals and had to wrestle number one seeds, so they were in tough,” Petersen said.

“We hope to stay healthy and wrestle well this next weekend,” he added.
