State employees meet Feb. 26

The Washington State Retired Public Employees Chapter 14 will hold their monthly meeting at the Medical Lake City Hall (upstairs), Feb. 26, starting at noon, with a potluck lunch.

The guest speaker will be Dr. Dale Clark from Buckley, Wash. He will speak about the plans and progress of the Mom and Me Mobile Medical Clinic.

The group would like to see all present and future public employee retirees attend.

Feed Cheney dinner Feb. 24

On Feb. 24, Feed Cheney will offer health screenings in addition to the monthly dinner and groceries. It’s all free and available to all, without any qualifying required. 

It all takes place at the Wren Pierson Community Center at 615 Fourth St. from 5:30-6-30 p.m. where there will also be live entertainment. The Cheney Clothing Exchange (clothing bank) will be open from 5-6:30 p.m. 


Feed Cheney is provided in partnership with Women and Children’s Free Restaurant, 2nd Harvest, Let’s Move Cheney and several Cheney churches.

The true story of Rin Tin Tin is the February selection of the Book Discussion Group of the Friends of the Cheney Community Library. The group meets Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. at the library. All are welcome to attend.

Rin Tin Tin was a remarkable dog found on a battlefield in France during World War I. He became a movie star and his descendants and successors were featured in many movies and on TV. His story is told by Susan Orleans in “Rin Tin Tin: The life and the Legend.
