Libraries closed Presidents Day

All Spokane County Library District facilities will be closed Monday, Feb. 17, to observe Presidents’ Day. Regular hours resume Tuesday, Feb. 18. District online services remain available 24/7.

STCU Cheney blood drive

The Spokane Teachers Credit Union’s Cheney branch is holding a blood drive to help the Inland Northwest Blood Center (INBC) on Friday, Feb. 28 from 1:15-5 p.m., at its location at 2718 First St.

INBC needs an average of 200 blood donors every day to meet the needs of more than 35 hospitals in the Inland Northwest. A single donation can save the lives of up to three people.

CHS athletics to host inaugural dessert and silent auction event

The inaugural Blackhawk Athletic Dessert and Silent Auction will be held Friday, March 7, in the Cheney High School cafeteria from 7-9 p.m. Tickets are $2 per person and can be purchased from any Blackhawk athlete or coach, or at the high school.

Besides delicious desserts, coffee and soft drinks the event includes a silent auction with a variety of items up for bid, 50/50 drawing and merchandise raffles and a sign up for the upcoming Blackhawk golf tournament.

All monies raised will help provide support to the CHS athletic programs. For more information call Jim Missel at 559-4103.

Alzheimers Association to hold free workshop at Cheney Care

The Alzheimer’s Association is presenting a free interactive workshop to educate the public so that early detection can help lead to drug therapy, clinical studies enrollment and beginning plans for the future.

The workshop will be at the Cheney Care Community’s Sessions Village, 2219 N. Sixth St. in Cheney from 11:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m., March 13. No reservations necessary.
