Eagles defeat Blackhawks in last regular season dual

The Cheney Blackhawks wrestling team faced the West Valley Eagles, Jan. 29 at home in their final dual of the regular season. After a highly competitive meet, the Eagles defeated the Blackhawks, 42-33.

After West Valley picked up two consecutive decision victories, Josh Wessels (170) pinned Kiernan Sole in 27 seconds in the second period.

Devon Waterman (182) pinned Quinton Stansbury in 1:54 in the first period.

Michael Ferguson (195) pinned Corey Bennett, in 1:03 in the first period.

Braden Wirth (106) pinned Matthew Hoffer in 1:52 in the first period.

Jared Rivera (126) defeated Cameron Conner, by decision, 8-1.

Cameron Wiseman (132) would pick up the last win for Cheney after he pinned Spencer Young in 47 seconds.

Prior to the first bout, wrestlers, cheerleaders and the team manager were honored for Senior Night.

Several members of the wrestling team will next compete at the District 7 championships, Feb. 7-8, at East Valley High School in Spokane.
