ML Seniors dinner Feb. 8

The Medical Lake Kiwanis are holding their annual Senior Citizen Valentine’s Day Dinner Feb. 8 at noon in St. Anne’s Parish Hall, corner of Lake and Prentis.

A traditional turkey dinner will be served. There will also be entertainment, door prizes and the announcement and honoring of the 2013 Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year.

The dinner is free to all Medical Lake area senior citizens. For more information call 299-5478.

Free taxes done in Cheney

In partnership with the Internal Revenue Service the AARP Free Taxaide service is once again open at the Cheney Library. Over 10 volunteers have been IRS-certified to assist taxpayers with taxes. 

The IRS sponsors the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs. The programs’ mission is to provide free basic tax return preparation for low-to-moderate income and elderly taxpayers. This includes taxpayers with disabilities, limited English proficiency and military. 

Cheney Taxaide is available by appointment only Thursday evenings from 4-7 p.m. and Friday afternoons from 1-4 p.m. starting Feb. 6. The service ends April 11. To schedule an appointment in Cheney please call the Washington Trust Bank appointment line at 509-358-4851.
