Medical Lake wrestlers complete busy schedule

While most everyone else at Medical Lake High School had time off over the Christmas holiday break, wrestlers were anything but idle as they competed in four tournaments.

Nick Reed at 113 pounds emerged with the most success with runner-up finishes at the Central Valley Tournament, Dec. 23 and the M-2 Tournament at Rogers High, Dec. 28. Reed also took home a third place at Cashmere Dec. 21 and fourth at last Saturday’s Blackhawk Invite in Cheney.

Ricky Petersen also scored a runner-up finish at Rogers and a fourth at CV and Cheney at 145 pounds.

Hudson Petek (160) and Ian O’Brien (220) both earned third place finishes in Cashmere. Petek also added a fourth place at Rogers. Jackson Tappero also had a fourth at 182 pounds at CV.

“It was a busy break as we only had about four days off,” Cardinals’ head coach Sam Petersen said. “We have Freeman Thursday (at home, 7 p.m.) and then the River City Duals in Post Falls, Friday and Saturday.”

Things slow down with just one match through January.
