Blackhawks' miscues lead to league loss at Deer Park

The Cheney boys’ basketball team dropped their fifth straight game with a 51-47 loss in their Great Northern League opener last Friday at Deer Park. The Blackhawks led the Stags by 11 after one quarter, and by one at the end of the third, only to have turnovers and missed free throws help Deer Park (5-4, 1-0) rally in the fourth for the win.

Brett Wyborney led Cheney in scoring with 15 points while Keenan Williams added 12 and Ty Graham nine.

Cheney (1-6, 0-1) will try to find its way back to the win column with a pair of league games this week, but it will be a tall order. The Blackhawks travel to East Valley to take on the Knights (6-3, 1-0) Friday night and then face defending state 2A champion and pre-season league title favorite Pullman (7-1, 1-0) in their league home opener Saturday.
