Cardinal girls start NEA play
The Medical Lake girls will take a 2-2 nonleague record into the opening week of Northeast A League play.
The Cards split last week’s contests, beating Royal City handily 48-25 last Tuesday and then fell 75-28 Saturday at home to Brewster.
Medical Lake met Riverside (2-2) this past Tuesday, Great Northern League Colville (3-0) Wednesday in a nonleague contest before hosting Kettle Falls (5-0) Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The Cardinals got a game-high 13 points from Cassidy Hagel and 12 more from Hailey Cheevers in the game at Royal City where ML’s defense helped them to a 21-7 halftime lead. Hagel also led the team with seven rebounds.
Medical Lake was on the other end of things Saturday at home against Brewster which raced to a 24-6 first quarter lead and never let up. Hagel’s nine points paced the Cardinals.
