The Cheney High girls basketball team finished the first week of play shy one thing – its first win. The Lady Hawks dropped a pair of opening games last week, losing 42-32 on the road against Idaho 4A Lakeland Tuesday and then 56-16 to Ellensburg Saturday in the home opener.
Tuesday in Rathdrum against the Hawks, Cheney played well in the first half en route to a 23-13 halftime lead. In the second half the Lady Hawks went cold from the field, scoring just nine points and getting outscored 17-5 in the fourth quarter, and losing a seven-point lead with less than five minutes to play as Lakeland...
