Michael Sam Hammack

Michael Sam Hammack was born April 2, 1955, in Seattle, Wash., to Sam and Ruth Hammack.  He passed away on Nov. 29, 2013.  Mike graduated from Queen Anne High School. He entered the Navy in 1973.  He served as a diesel engineer, E-3.  After the Navy, Mike attended South Seattle Community College in diesel mechanics.  In 1987, Mike and his parents moved to Cheney. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Sam Hammack.  He is survived by his mother, Ruth Hammack; his siblings Patti McKee, Vickie (Don) Kennedy, Terri (Luis) Flores, Judy Culp, and Larry (Sheri) Hammack; nieces and nephews Matthew (Danelle) Kennedy, Mike Culp, Timothy (Ginger) Kennedy, Windy Flores, Chris (Doreen) Culp, Dwight Hammack, Jamie Hammack, and great nieces and nephews Ryan, Lillian, Aiden, Ethan, Teagan, Marie, Kaley, and Mike. Mike loved the outdoors, working on engines, and time with family and friends.  He was known for his humor and his "thumbs up" when he was happy.  We will miss him. A funeral mass was held Saturday, Dec. 7, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cheney followed by burial with military honors at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
