Public is invited to mystery gift auction and spaghetti feed Dec. 15
Between the constant bustle and inevitable stress the holidays can bring it can be easy to let the bells of the Salvation Army become background noise and the need for those less fortunate to fall on occupied ears, the Cheney Junior Rodeo Association however remains determined.
Since June of this year the Junior Rodeo has partnered with the Time of Remembrance group- who support the families of our fallen heroes, to raise awareness and funds that are split between the two groups.
“We try to help the vets out as a group,” Sherrie McNall of the Cheney Junior Rodeo Association said. “To give what we’ve got to give.”
Together with Time of Remembrance, the Junior Rodeo has had rummage sales and even a car show in Ritzville to raise donations for the respective causes, but this month will allow the community another opportunity to help out.
The two groups will hold a mystery gift auction and spaghetti feast at Fairway’s Golf Course Sunday, Dec. 15, beginning at 1 p.m..
Guests are asked to bring a “festively wrapped gift” to auction off during the dinner by their special guest Raymond Pendell.
“We’d like to see at least 100 people come,” McNall said.
The Junior Rodeo is funded solely from donations, fundraisers like this auction, and local sponsors like the Kalispel Tribe and Del’s Feed and Supply.
They have about 25 dedicated volunteers but are constantly looking for more to help with “whatever we’ve got our ears into.” At their September rodeo these volunteers successfully wrangled about 87 contestants, and were able to keep these contestants from getting injured.
This month’s dinner and auction will cost attendees $20 and all profits will be divided by the Cheney Junior Rodeo and Time of Remembrance.
