Post office contest underway

The Cheney Post Office’s annual Christmas coloring contest is underway, and children ages 3-12 are invited to participate for a chance to win a Christmas stocking full of goodies. To do so, stop by the post office and pick up a picture, color it and return it by Dec. 18.

Winners will be contacted immediately thereafter, with stockings handed out Dec. 20 and a chance to have their pictures published in the Cheney Free Press.

STCU blood drive Dec. 27

The Spokane Teachers Credit Union’s Cheney branch is holding a blood drive to help the Inland Northwest Blood Center on Friday, Dec. 27 from 1:15-5 p.m. at its location at 2718 First St.

INBC needs an average of 200 blood donors every day to meet the needs of more than 35 hospitals in the Inland Northwest. A single donation can save the lives of up to three people.

ML Friends fundraiser Dec. 14

Medical Lake Friends for Children is holding the annual Christmas raffle and auction on Dec. 14. It is held at the One-Fourteen Bar and Grille at 2 p.m.

Major items to be raffled include a large screen TV, casino get-away package and $250 in cash. Many other prizes are provided from generous community donors as well.

Tickets are sold for $1 donation and are for sale by group members and at Denny’s Harvest Food in their courtesy booth, need not be present to win.
