Eastern starts strong, fades versus UW

The Eastern Washington University men’s basketball team held a double-digit lead much of the game, but a late 12-0 run helped Washington pull away for a 92-80 victory Nov. 17 at Alaska Airlines Arena.

“To beat a good team on their home floor you need to play a complete game,” Eastern head coach Jim Hayford said. Eastern, which was out-scored at the free throw line 31-11, evened their record at 1-1. Eastern was coming off a wire-to-wire 87-58 victory over Pacific Nov. 10 in Cheney, while Washington (2-1) lost to UC Irvine 86-72 in its last outing.
