Cheney volleyball is fifth in state poll

Cheney volleyball continued an already dominant season last week, defeating both West Valley and Clarkston to improve to 5-1 on the season.

The team is even getting some recognition at the state level, placing fifth in week four of the Seattle Times’ 2A rankings across Washington.

Against West Valley, the team won 3-0 in three sets with senior Ashley Seiler’s 23 kills, aided by 28 assists from senior Kinsey Pease.

“I think we did a really good job of controlling the pace of each of the sets,” head coach Brianne Lowe said.

The drive to Clarkston took a toll on the team, but Cheney was able to come out on top, again winning 3-0. In that game, Seiler had 17 kills, Pease had 37 assists and junior Kimber Case had 15 digs to help push the Blackhawks into yet another win.

The team faced Pullman Tuesday night and will play against Deer Park tonight (Thursday, Oct. 3) at home, before visiting Colville next Tuesday.
