Cheney volleyball holds Great Northern League lead

Cheney High School volleyball continues to lead the Great Northern League standings, sitting at 2-0 in league play and 3-1 overall.

The team split its matches last week, winning a close one against East Valley and losing against Mt. Spokane.

“We knew it was going to be a really tough match,” head coach Brianne Lowe said about the Mt. Spokane match. “They’re a big school and they have a lot of talent, so we knew we had to come in and be aggressive.”

The first set of the match wasn’t as aggressive as hoped, and Cheney fell 25-14. A team meeting between sets helped to stop that...
