Eastern soccer nets first win over Idaho

The Eastern Washington University women’s soccer team (1-5-0) ended a five-game losing streak to open the season scoring a 2-1 victory over the University of Idaho last Friday, Sept. 13 in Moscow, Idaho.

Cassie Black’s unassisted goal at the 2–minute mark gave Eastern a lead at halftime and was the 16th of her EWU career, EWU sophomore Alisha Stott scored the other goal for the Eagles off an assist from Haley Stading in the 69th minute

“I thought we did what we needed to do, which was to come out strong quickly,” Eastern head coach George Hageage said. “Cassie’s goal just a couple minutes into the game allowed our energy level to stay really high throughout the first half.”

The Eagles played at Gonzaga this past Tuesday and will be at a tournament in Fargo, N.D. this weekend before starting Big Sky Conference play at Idaho State, Sept. 26.
