Adams earns national award

Eastern Washington University quarterback Vernon Adams’ efforts in helping engineer his team’s stunning 49-46 upset of No. 25 Oregon State Saturday at Reser Stadium in Corvallis earned the sophomore selection as the Sports Network’s Football Championship Subdivision Offensive Player of the Week.

Adams, from Pasadena, Calif., and graduated in 2011 from Alemany High School, finished with a school-record 518 yards of total offense in the win. He had four touchdown passes and rushed for two TDs, and scored the winning points with a 2-yard run with 18 seconds to play.
