Offense clicks in Eastern's first scrimmage

Defense does have its day, too, in first fall scrimmage of 2013

Eastern Washington University’s redshirt freshman receiver Cooper Kupp dishes out a stiff arm to defender Todd Raynes in last Saturday’s initial scrimmage of fall camp. Kupp had nine catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns.

Over the 90 minutes the Eastern Washington University Eagles spent out on the red carpet at Roos Field in last Saturday’s first fall camp scrimmage, a lot of the time seemed to favor the offense.

However, Eagles’ head coach Beau Baldwin saw things differently.

“I thought it was the type of scrimmage where both sides did great things,” Baldwin said. “We got to hit a lot of different things that could happen during the season, like our backs are against the wall coming out, red zone and sudden change."

While the offense scored eight times and racked up over 450 yards of total offens...
