Emmanuel Lutheran Church

All are welcome to worship at Emmanuel Lutheran Church this Sunday, Aug. 25 for the Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost. Adult Bible study begins at 9 a.m.

The Thrivent free food giveaway truck will be in the church parking lot from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22. This event is open to the entire community. Please bring boxes or bags to haul food.

Mark your calendars for Rally Day scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 8. All age Sunday school classes begin the following Sunday, Sept. 15.

United Church of Christ

A couple of outreach opportunities present themselves this week. First, anyone who can donate food or money or assemble sandwiches, please contact Jennifer Dahl by Aug. 25. Cheney UCC is helping the Feed Cheney folks to provide free brown-bag meals and food boxes from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the park across from the Wren Pierson Community Center on Aug. 26.

Secondly, if you can donate school supplies for children in Cheney schools, please bring them to Cheney Outreach Center on Thursday, Aug. 22, between 9-11:30 a.m. Especially needed are the more expensive items like backpacks for all and flash drives for grades 6-12.

The United Church of Christ welcomes everyone to its regular Sunday morning service led by pastor David Krueger-Duncan in the sanctuary at 423 N. Sixth St., starting at 10 a.m. Sunday. School-age children may attend the service with their parents. Preschool children may go to the nursery from 9:45-11:15 a.m.

We ‘re friendly folks who like to reach out to others. Please join us after church as we sign up for various activities and get to know one another over coffee and cookies.

United Methodist Church

We wrap up a wonderful week of Vacation Bible School at the United Methodist Church on Thursday, Aug. 22. Many thanks to all who made this powerful week happen. A special thank you to Saralynn Kerr who directed and orchestrated the event.

Worship is at 10 a.m. Sunday morning at U.M.C. The Rev. Terry Hall will lead the service. Visitors and newcomers will find a warm welcome into our worship and fellowship each week.
