Another solid week crisscrossing the West has vaulted Cheney’s Ryan Gray to the top of the Pro Rodeo Cowboy’s Association bareback standings as the month of July comes to an end.
He’s won $79,651 to date in 2013 and has moved steadily up the PRCA standings in July. He started the month off with a little more than $36,000 in the bank and in sixth place.
“Yeah I had a good week,” Gray wrote in an email from the road. He was second at Ogden, Utah July 19 and won $1,900.
However, Gray’s big payday came at the legendary Cheyenne Frontier Days in Gray’s home state of Wyoming (he was born in Laramie). He rode there July 24 and 25 wining more than $13,000. “I had 88 (points) in the first round and won that and 77 in the second round,” Gray said,
Sunday he was back in Cheyenne and rode 2011 world champion, “Full Baggage,” finishing second overall to Taylor Price.
Between the long round and the short rounds in Cheyenne, Gray went to Preston, Idaho scored an 85 to finish first and earn $2,300. He was third in Joseph, Ore. last Saturday night with 80 points and $1,000.
