Grace B. Betz (age 93) passed away June 20, peacefully in her sleep. Grace was born Sept. 22, 1919 to James and Kathryn Shindler in Malden, Wash.
She moved with her parents and sister Edna Weigand to Hayden, Idaho and then to Cheney, Wash. where Grace’s parents owned a dairy farm. Grace attended college at Eastern Washington College of Education where she received her bachelor’s degree in teaching.
Grace taught in Colfax and Cheney. She married William Edward Betz, lived in Cheney and then moved to Williams Lake in 1958 to raise their family. Grace was involved in PEO, Beta and politics. She is survived by her daughter Sue Betz-Higgins; sons Jim and Franklin (Lynda); grandchildren; Edward, Scott, Crystyl and Jeff and great-grandchildren; Shyenne, John and Elizabeth.
A private family burial service will be held at Spokane Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow for the public at Spokane County Fire District 3, Station 1, S. 10 Presley Drive in Cheney from 2 - 4 p.m. July 11. Contributions may be made in her memory to: SCFD 3 Volunteer Fire Association.
