For your contemplation: "You realize that prayer takes us beyond the law. When you are praying you are, in a certain sense, an outlaw. There is no law between the heart and God. The law is outside our intimate relationship with God and if you bring a law into the intimate relationships with God, you mess things up. Between the soul and God there are no laws. But that is not a natural situation: it is the result of redemption, the result of Christ." Thomas Merton.

St. Paul's is located at 625 C St. on the edge of the EWU campus.

United Church of Christ

Do you want to know what projects the United Church of Christ will do this next year? All those who participate in the church will join to decide in the annual meeting after the service on July 14. After that, the Church Council members elected in the meeting will be sharing a retreat on Aug. 16 and 17.

Women’s fellowship, during their meeting on June 30, elected new officers: President Dot Clark, vice president Joyce Malone, secretary Marian Whitfield and treasurer Gail Hilton. They also organized the preparation for the bazaar and signed up on the schedule to make lunch monthly for the young people at Crosswalk.

Do you want to know the topic of Sunday’s sermon? It’s usually posted on the reader board in front of the church. All are welcome to the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service led by pastor David Krueger-Duncan in the sanctuary located at 423 N. Sixth St.

School-age children are invited to attend the service with their parents. Children under age five may go to the nursery from 9:45-11:15 a.m.
