Born in Pasco, Wash. Aug. 27, 1940, went to be with the Lord May 27, 2013.
In Delphia’s lifetime, she was a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of Washington, an EMT for the Poulsbo Fire Department, and taught piano lessons in the West Indies for three years.
In Alaska, Delphia worked for the Clarion Newspaper as a reporter. She worked for Meals on Wheels for the city of Kenai for several years before retiring.
Later, Delphia volunteered for the No One Dies Alone program, and was a pianist for Nikiski Mt. Redoubt Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Soldotna, Alaska. She started the “teaching piano program” for the children at Mt. Redoubt Church who were interested in learning how to play the piano. She volunteered for the Alzheimer and Cancer Society in Anchorage, Alaska. These are only a few of her accomplishments. Delphia loved the Lord and her family, reading books, playing the piano, writing (she belonged to a writer’s group) and quilting.
Delphia moved from Alaska to live with her sister, Judy Bridges and husband Bill of Cheney, while fighting cancer. She is survived by her brother Ronald Nelson, her sister Judy (Nelson) Bridges, sons Miles Lawson, Brian Lawson and Paul Lawson, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was married to Wayne Lawson for 40 years. They were active in the ministry for many years.
Graveside service will be at 1 pm July 13 at Riverview Heights Cemetery in Kennewick, Wash.
